The CASNET Group began with the purchase of the ComDoc Micrographic Service Center in 1993 by High Line Corporation and is comprised of the employees, products, and services from three principle acquisitions. Those companies all trace their roots back to the 1970s. Which means that CASNET employees have been serving customers in the information management marketplace for over 40 years. From the beginning, we provided document filming services and computer output microfiche to customers in Akron, Canton, and Youngstown.
In the mid-1990s, Brad Bowers began expanding our product line and offerings to better serve and meet the needs of our customers. The first expansion came in the form of selling and installing complete document management systems. Our services division used the same new technology in providing scanning services for its customers. To expand our involvement with transactional document management, High Line Corporation then acquired the CASNET Group Inc. from Citizens Savings Bank of Canton, and began doing business as CASNET.
By 1996, our document scanning capabilities for the services division doubled with the acquisition of OMC. CASNET also entered the Electronic Data Management Systems (EDMS) market with products from Kodak, Optika, and Minolta. In 1997, and again in 1998, CASNET received the Weatherhead 100 award, a distinction given to the 100 fastest-growing companies in Northeastern Ohio by the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University.
By 2000, CASNET became the leading document conversion center for document management services as well as the largest integrator of document management technology in Northeastern Ohio. In 2001, we became a Hyland Value Added Reseller. Our expansion of products and services continued in 2003 by adding data entry capabilities to the already broad CASNET product portfolio. CASNET also took a leadership position in AIIM, the industry trade association, in order to promote education and interest around document management. During the last several years, CASNET has worked to bring industry education to a select group of markets, providing a more customer intimate approach.
While some technology companies experienced downturns over the past few years, CASNET continues its growth pattern and evolution by focusing on customer needs and working with proven partners. During the first quarter of 2010, CASNET acquired NCD Corporation containing the eWIX technology. With eWIX, CASNET has been able to enhance our offerings in the document conversion and storage space with our own Software as a Service (hosted) solution that eliminates the need for large upfront capital investments.
In September 2016, CASNET was awarded with the prestigious NorthCoast 99 Award naming us as one of the Top 99 places to work in Northeast Ohio. This marks the sixth time CASNET has been named to the list by Employers Resource Council.
